2009 Bracelet Champion - Chris "Peanut" Wilkinson
Finale Played 7th February 2010
Sixteen players met at the Beacon on Sunday night to establish who was going to claim the very first BPPL winners Bracelet and sizeable winners cash pot.
Some players had been sat at the top of the league for a good while and others had crept in at the death.
From the off play was tight and conservative, noone wanted to go out
Sometimes the game is cruel - the blood visibly drained from the Highwayman's face as he got shafted for the second time and left the arena. We were seeing straights and flushes on the river time and time again and those hearts just seemed to keep on coming.
At the break there was I think just the one casualty.
As the blinds went up players started to fall, their dreams of claiming the inaugural bracelet vanishing into thin air.
And then we were down to the last eight and everyone moved to the final table.
I thought I was in with a shout when I hit trip 6's aginst the Fox's pair of 10's only for yet another heart to hit on the river and my stack was decimated. My all in with KQ was futile when Slowfish turned over the Rockets and it was goodnight Vienna.
And still the battle of attrition continued, Peanut was starting to look dangerous, he just couldn't do anything wrong, and when it came to heads up with the Ace he hit 4 more of those pesky hearts to win the day with a king high flush.
What a result, congratulations Peanut from everyone at Beacon Park
